Lesson Structure

Lessons provide resources for the following lesson structure. Resources can be manipulated to work in different ways and the lesson structure can be altered to best suit the needs of your students and teaching style. 

Warmup (5 Minutes)

Students begin with a bell ringer to engage and focus them on the topic of the lesson.

Teacher-Directed Activity (10-15 minutes)

The teacher clarifies misconceptions and solidifies understanding of concepts using the presentation and/or student notes.

student-Directed Activity (15-20 minutes)

Students work on an independent or small group activity with the interactive notebook activity.

wrap-up and reflection (5-10 minutes)

Students complete a lesson-based summative and/or formative assessment using the 4-5 question quiz and reflection exercise.

Homework (15-20 minutes)

Students complete an independent assignment with the homework worksheet and/or reading passage with comprehension question. The independent assignment can be formative or summative.
